Aesthetics. Link Love. Dumplings.
So much on, I don’t know which detail to begin with, therefore, in a timely fashion, here goes:
I had a lovely meeting in North Carlton with that sweet little birdie from RedR Australia. She took me to the Auction Rooms. It is aesthetic heaven. There is so much attention to detail – the sugar cups, the crate art, the blue glass tiling and gorgeous cylindrical lighting. The best part – is that they have huge windows which stay open in summer. I can’t describe it right. But it’s like being inside and the world is outside, but you can still feel the warmth on a summers day.

Next up, World Vegan Day. I was so hyped about it, I’m not even a vegan (a vegetarian though). It was held in the beautiful Abbotsford Convent – an inside & outside affair. I could talk about all the reasons I went i.e. music, gelati, Lentil as Anything, speed dating (or not) or just a place where I could eat EVERYTHING on the menu. It’s a real thrill. Trust me. But really, I went because there were cooking lessons. (I know, I know. I’ve got cooking fever pretty bad). And I am now a dumpling master chef. Well, close.

If you haven’t left this page, I have a treat for you. Muahahah. Cavallero. Lovely* waiters. Wood, white, sparse and magnifique. The perfect place to chill out on a Sunday afternoon with coffees and more. High ceilings and for a real treat, go to the toilets and check yourself out in the mirrors (another treat).

Smith Street Bazaar has been at 305 Smith St for roughly 18 months now, and it is looking hot. With 12 dealers and a regular mix up – they cover everything vintage and retro and more. I loved the massive posters + all their 70’s lounge pieces.

Stop Us Before We Kill Again, is a sweet exhibit on at the Collingwood Gallery on Smith Street. This was my personal favourite – by Luna Soo made from beloved socks. I have never been able to describe what I mean by “ju-ju lips”. Now all I have to do, is keep a picture of these socks in my wallet. Sorted.

On Sunday I bought a Keep Cup. I’ve been trialing it, so far, so good. Keeps hot, doesn’t spill, looks cool. Only problem, its like those recycling bags – I always forget to take to the supermarket. But I’m a work in progress. I did however really buy it because it was available in orange. In orange at Miss Kish; an Hermés wallet, Lamy ballpoint pen, T2 cups & a Keep Cup.

And last up, I have decided to bookmark all the weeks cool links. I hope you like.
Fantastic interview of Jason Fried from 37Signals. New thoughts of working hours, working style and what we do with our time. I find I’m least productive from 2-4pm and most productive either early morning, or just after 5pm – I must be like Jason.
Rosh & I went for a breezy bike ride on Labour Day. Twas lovely. Rentabike does city tours with food included, it’s like enjoyable exercise. They were real sweet, pumped my tires, fixed up my seat and I wasn’t even the one loaning a bike!
Holly Fulton. I adore. Fashion & Geometry.
The night markets are coming to Queen Vic, Northcote and South Melbourne.
In Frankfurt in November and interested in an Independent Indian Film Festival? I thought so! The real reason, is Born Into Brothels. I saw this years ago, thanks to Meeks. It has moved me and changed me – if you can’t make it to Frankfurt, maybe at Video Ezy? (Sorry, a bit serious for this blog – but life is like a box of chocolates…)
Models take it off for climate change. I thought my last blog was a real treat for the ladies, so I’m making it up to you.
Love Hurts - An exhibit in Auckland presented by The Tattooed Heart, features one of my NZ favourites, Kelly Thompson. Kelly also recently working with Telecom NZ as part of a collaboration on this fine looking ad. The exhibit is on from November 12th – 26th on 202 K’Rd, wish I could be there.
Stuck on that logo? I was this week, until I found this little gem. A tool guide of links & resources for designers. You might want to add an animal in there – read here about Lacoste’s move to save it’s crocodiles.
Ever wondered which font Miss Kish uses? It’s Minion Pro for the logo and Din for all the other text. Darling Billie has found me a Din brochure. It comes in a plethora of weights (if we’re looking at the entire family), has been around since 1919. To read more – click here.
Thats it for now! Have a sweet week.
*Hot, fine, delicious.
