Told you there would be more Melbourne love…
Jerry’s Milk Bar is genuinely deceiving from its exterior (in a good way). They’ve stayed true to all the signage and layout of a milk bar. Jess ordered the corn pikelets, V and I copied her minus the salmon (its okay Maa, I’m still vego). A super sweet joint for the locals with quirks like the wall paper, lighting and old school styles.

Monday night, Puri, Roshers and I finally managed to get catch up time. David’s on Cecil St in Prahran – has always had my major respect and this time, they stayed true to form. We were late and took long to order as well as leave – but we got big love from the waiters from start till end. Their vegetarian menu is one of the most elaborate I’ve seen for a Chinese restaurant. Roshers suggested the red bean pancake for dessert, and I’m so glad she did. It was amazing – I always take the chocolate way out – and I wouldn’t have picked this, but next time, I definitely will!

On Tuesday – I visited Brother Baba Budan. My first time – there was quite a line for 11am coffee – no questions why – just questions as to how we were managed so efficiently. Down to the details, the chairs, the illustrations on the wallpaper, the sweet staff (there was a real Dita-Von-Teese-Esque lady with gorgeous everything – if I were a bloke, I would either get a job there or have to find some sane excuse to visit 3 times a day), the shelves and the perfect location (Little Bourke before you get to Hardware Lane from GPO). Go = they are lovely + you are lovely = perfect match.

V & I ventured to Prahran Markets this morning to find figs for the family – but alas, our 53°East store has disappeared. I don’t know where to go for dried fruit anymore. It was a sad day, but then I saw a sea of lilies – and that cheered me up (pretty much as easy as distracting a toddler). The fragrance was wild – sorry I can’t share it with you.

Market Lane is fresh and just managed to make Prahran look cooler. Milk bottles, chalk boards, aprons with those cool hooks from overalls and more. At the risk of sounding ignorant about coffee (which I have openly confessed to before, so I guess its ok) – they didn’t serve us a mocha. No mochas. This is a pure coffee place. I tried the “Geisha” (mainly because I’ve read the book Memoirs of a Geisha and loved it)– and because I had never tried anything like it, they gave me an intro….
Hand brewed using pour over filter coffee. Beans are grinded – as per your order, then placed in filter paper, which is placed in a cup with 2 holes at the bottom, allowing the coffee to gradually make its way into your cup. Non pressurised. If you would like to read more about the process – click here. Totally new experience for Kish! They also deliver…

Got lunch from Grill’d today – takeouts. And while I was waiting, the lady gave me this sweet little treat. I’m not huge on Christmas – but this made me smile big time. No cliché santa hats, red velvet, plastic trees or paper snow. Just a gift. Fresh strawberries. And that’s how Grill’d won a little more of the Kish Burger Market Share.

Have a lovely Christmas – say hi to your mum for me, drink lots of water and send all work calls to the message bank.
